Therapeutic Approach

Jennifer’s therapeutic approach is based on the principles and techniques of Gestalt Therapy, an insight oriented therapy. Key to this approach is the non-judgmental stance it employs. Jennifer knows it takes courage to make that first phone call to a therapist and to ask for help. Many people begin therapy due to feelings of anxiety or sadness. They may be experiencing difficulties in life changes such as divorce, a death in the family, a birth of a child, or the empty nest when the children leave home. Some are experiencing problems in relationships with spouses, or conflicts between parent and child. Others are addressing unresolved issues from their past. It doesn’t matter the problem; at Riverview Therapy difficulties are considered a part of the client’s life experience, not to be judged, but rather to be understood and respected.

Treatment Path

Starting Point: Treatment begins with an initial diagnostic assessment. This assessment is completed in about 90 minutes. Together, client and therapist develop a treatment plan.

The Path: Sessions last for 45 minutes and most people are treated in 8 to 10 sessions.

Destination: Treatment ends when symptoms are decreased and goals are attained.
